In Blue Springs, nurseries are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have time to answer questions. Let me start by saying this: Colonial Farms itself is fantastic. The selection, atmosphere, attentiveness, and customer service are all exceptional. If I were reviewing Colonial Farms alone, this would be an easy 5 stars. Unfortunately, I apparently made the mistake of becoming emotionally attached to the businesses inside Colonial Garden. Whistle Stop, in particular, has become a place my lady and I genuinely love and frequent. Great atmosphere, great people, great coffee, great everything. So naturally, we thought, โHey, this is awesome. Weโll keep coming back.โ Apparently, Colonial Gardens has decided that consistency is overrated and that its cafรฉs should operate more like seasonal relationships. Get attached, enjoy the place, develop a routineโฆ and then BOOM โ congratulations, theyโre gone. This is now the second business Iโve watched come in, absolutely deliver what people want, establish itself, become a place people enjoy going to, and then get rotated out. At this point, Iโm not sure if Iโm supporting local businesses or auditioning for The Bachelor: Colonial Gardens Edition. I understand businesses change. I understand leases, economics, ownership decisions, etc. But

Went with my daughter for the U Cut flowers on Tuesdaymorning. We both came out with beautiful arrangements. Suggest bringing your own shears. They do have them available but ask you to leave your ID for the time you borrow them. It would have been extra nice if we each had our own set to cut with.

Lovely nursery, turns out they were just acquired by Powell Gardens, which I didn't know about until I started seeing a lot of their merch in the store. Very clean and cute store, I arrived too late to try out their cafรฉ but I'm sure I'll go back eventually. I signed up for their email blasts too. Their prices were very fair on everything including large pottery pieces and the plants themselves. The selection was still good even at this time of year too. I got a few small things and I plan on going back again with some girlfriends to shop and hangout on their lovely outdoor patio. Chef's kiss!
